Dua Lipa honoured Cher at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Ceremony

At the 2024 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony, Dua Lipa had a true pinch-me moment as she performed ‘Believe’ alongside Cher, who was being inducted. The night was filled with nostalgia and reverence for one of the most iconic performers of all time. Much like the pop queen herself, Dua embraced the moment, both in her musical tribute and her fashion choice.

Dua’s Prada ensemble—a halter top adorned with stones and sequins, paired with a black cady pencil skirt—was a glamorous look. Embroidered details at the top of the skirt added a sprinkle of interest, but this was not quite the dazzling tribute one might expect for an artist known for her unapologetic embrace of sequins, sparkles, and over-the-top glamour.

Zendaya, who introduced the performance, wore a look that some felt was a little too much, but for me, it captured the essence of Cher’s bold fashion legacy. In comparison, Dua’s look, though stunning, left me wanting more. A true homage to Cher should have no restraint, and in this case, Prada could have turned up the dial on those sequins for the skirt.

Cher is a legend whose style has always been about pushing boundaries and making statements, so holding back on the sparkle feels like a missed opportunity. While Dua’s performance was a hit, the look—though beautiful—should have been bolder. A few more sequins could have made all the difference in fully embracing the Cher spirit for the night.
