Jodie Turner-Smith’s subtle statement at the ‘Gladiator II’ Premiere

In the second installment of “events I hadn’t anticipated seeing Jodie Turner-Smith at this week”, the British actress graced the red carpet for the ‘Gladiator II’ Royal premiere at London’s Leicester Square on Wednesday evening.

For a celebrity known for her “more-is-more” maximalist style, some of you might have expected her to go all out for a royal gala premiere. But let’s remember—this wasn’t her film. In many respects, I admire her choice to show restraint, because this Issey Miyake Fall 2024 dress by Satoshi Kondo is about as minimalist as we’re likely to get from her.

Minimalist, yes, but far from devoid of intrigue. Despite its simplicity, the draped silhouette and the way the dress elegantly wraps around her figure lend it a subtle, Roman-inspired feel that seems perfectly on-theme for a premiere of ‘Gladiator’. The artful draping and refined silhouette capture a kind of modern Grecian elegance, a nod that I suspect was intentional. For an actress whose red carpet appearances are known for statement pieces, this look was surprisingly subdued, but it was a welcome departure.

Simple black pumps completed her look, along with her signature dramatic eye makeup.
