Richard Gadd may not have left the 2024 BAFTA Scotland Awards with a trophy in hand, despite an impressive three nominations for ‘Baby Reindeer,’ but he unquestionably owned the red carpet. The actor and writer elevated Scottish heritage to new heights, donning a custom Loewe ensemble that paid homage to his roots in Fife, Scotland.
Richard’s look was a masterclass in blending the old with the new. For his custom Loewe outfit, he fully embraced his heritage, stepping out in a traditional kilt worn over a black cotton shirt. Unlike his Emmy Awards appearance, where he went half-tuxedo, half-kilt, this time he leaned all the way into Scottish tradition by adding a ceremonial sash. Draped from shoulder to hip, the sash added a formal and symbolic touch, befitting the occasion.
No kilt is complete without a sporran, and Richard’s Loewe leather sporran doubled as a practical and stylish nod to Highland dress. The addition of the Loewe Anagram subtly modernised this traditional piece, giving it a high-fashion edge. Paired with Loewe Crown oxford shoes, his ensemble felt cohesive and impeccably styled.
The choice to incorporate ceremonial elements like the sash underscored the significance of the night for Richard, even if he didn’t take home an award. This look was not just an outfit; it was a tribute to his heritage, worn with pride and dignity.
Richard turned a moment of cultural pride into a standout red carpet statement, proving that while awards elude him on the night, his sense of style never falters. Sometimes, the best accolades are found in the details.
