Auli’i Cravalho Wore Oscar de la Renta To The 'Moana 2’ London Premiere

When it comes to Disney press tours, I’m a self-confessed fan-girl when it comes to the romance and fairy-tale flair they bring to the red carpet.

London Premiere

Auli’i Cravalho, the voice behind Moana, more than embraced the magic at the London premiere of ‘Moana 2’ on Sunday. This Oscar de la Renta floral-embroidered tulle gown is as enchanting as it is meaningful. The hibiscus flowers, Hawaii’s official state flower, combined with the ethereal blue tulle reminiscent of the Pacific Ocean, make this dress a poetic nod to Auli’i’s Hawaiian roots and her role as Moana.

It’s a gown that tells a beautiful story in more ways than one.  While the dress undoubtedly stands on its own, the actress elevated the look with jewels from Graziela, Tiffany & Co., and EFFY, adding a touch of sparkle to an already luminous ensemble.

Hawaiian World Premiere

For the Hawaiian world premiere held in Kapolei on Friday, Auli’i made a deeply resonant choice by wearing a custom look from Samoan designer Afa Ah Loo, a Project Runway Season 2017 alum. This pairing of a draped shell top with black high-waisted trousers was a stylish celebration of Pacific Island craftsmanship.

This look wasn’t just about fashion—it was cultural storytelling. By championing a designer from the Pacific Islands, Auli’i highlighted the importance of representation, particularly on a global stage like a Disney premiere. Her choice underscores how fashion can be a powerful platform for cultural pride and advocacy, and it sets a meaningful precedent for the rest of the ‘Moana 2’ press tour.
