‘Weekends with Adele’ came to an emotional conclusion on Saturday as Adele bid a tearful goodbye to her Las Vegas residency after 100 shows.
Marking her 50th weekend on stage, she simply captioned her Instagram post, “Weekend 50,” leaving fans to reflect on how quickly the two years had flown by.
“It’s been wonderful, and I will miss it terribly,” Adele told her audience, adding, “I don’t know when I next want to perform again.”
This bittersweet moment wasn’t just an end of an era for Adele’s devoted fans but also a blow to the black gown community. Adele has single-handedly transformed my perception of black gowns throughout her residency, showcasing designs that were anything but boring. Every designer who contributed to her wardrobe delivered masterpieces of design, style, and execution, culminating in this final look.
For her farewell performance, Adele wore a breathtaking bespoke gown by Chloé, designed by Creative Director Chemena Kamali. While Chloé is traditionally synonymous with boho chic—think Sienna Miller’s enduring affection for their breezy aesthetic—this gown redefined expectations.
Intricately hand-embroidered with black and vintage gold beads, domes, broderie anglaise patterns, gold flatback crystals, and black toupees, the gown took over 890 hours to create, crafted by the Chloé Atelier petites mains. The result was a dazzling fusion of the label’s signature artisanal craftsmanship with the grandeur required for such a momentous occasion.
This gown didn’t just close a chapter; it encapsulated the magic of Adele’s residency—a blend of artistry, emotional resonance, and timeless elegance. If Adele’s performances were a gift to her audience, this gown was the perfect bow on top.
