In fact, I’d argue both Lively and Reynolds were more heavy-handed with their references than the film’s lead witches. Both Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande were in attendance wearing some of their most subtle Elphaba and Glinda-coded looks to date, though Erivo still rocked Ephie’s signature green and black.
Do you think this is Blake Lively’s bid to play Dorothy in the second part of Wicked? If so, she may be sad to learn that the movie has already been filmed—and that those famed ruby slippers are silver in Wicked, per the original Wizard of Oz books by L. Frank Baum.
Either way, I can’t get over this photo of Blake Lively standing an entire head taller than Grande and Erivo, who was wearing a pair of platform boots of her own. Tall girls, this is your sign to embrace the sparkly heels of your dreams. Just don’t forget to click your heels three times when you’re ready to go home…and then call an Uber.
