Rihanna’s style evolution is all about “growth.”

During a recent interview with TikTok creator Mystery Fashionist, Rihanna took a trip down memory lane to discuss her fashion must-haves and the one trend she regrets embracing—and no, the answer is not sweatpants and heels. “I started that trend,” she said when the combo was brought up as an example. “I would never regret that. Especially now, as a mom, a heel is the best fucking thing I could do for my pajamas.”

Back in October, Rihanna told People she reaches for “anything cozy” when wrangling her two sons, whom she shares with longtime partner A$AP Rocky. “Anything that’s stretchy, anything that’s easy to bend down and pick my kids up in, those are the things I look for,” she said. “Things that don’t scratch me, don’t scratch them. We’ve got a lot of work to do in a day of the life of a mom.”

So, what wouldn’t she wear again? “Maybe when I first started and I was wearing, like, the baggy jeans with the panties out,” she told Mystery Fashionist. “What the fuck was I thinking, bro?”

Or course, Rihanna doesn’t judge anyone embracing the Y2K trend. “That is for them,” she told Mystery Fashionist. “I can’t wear it for their evolution. It’s called growth.”

If you’re going through your own style evolution, Rihanna recommends stacking belts above your jeans, as she demonstrated in the TikTok video. For her chat with Mystery Fashionist, Rihanna was decked out in a vintage Christian Dior shearling jacket, black wide-leg YSL jeans, white pointed-toe boots, and a Gucci fur bag. She further accessorized with stacked silver-studded belts (which we suspect are Khaite), a Yankee logo hat by A Guy Not a Brand designer Mark Sabino, a bandana she got on Canal Street, and a trio of gold chains. “The chains aren’t Canal,” she joked.
