Kaia Gerber Wore Herve Leger For The 'Shell' Toronto Film Festival Premiere

Kaia Gerber is often called a mini-me of her mother, Cindy Crawford, and at the Toronto Film Festival premiere of ‘Shell’, she embraced that title in the most elegant way by stepped onto the red carpet in a custom-made recreation of the iconic vintage Hérve Léger gown that her mother famously wore to the 1993 Academy Awards.

I love how Kaia honoured her mother’s legendary style while making the look her own. The gown, designed by Michelle Ochs, who has masterfully moved the Hérve Léger brand forward, still pays homage to the label’s roots with its signature bandage material. The sleek lines and body-hugging fit were as striking in 2023 as they were in 1993, proving that classic designs never go out of style.

What really made Kaia’s look stand out was how she kept the vintage vibe alive with her accessories. The rare, vintage OMEGA timepiece from the late 1950s, crafted in white gold and adorned with sapphires and diamonds, added a touch of timeless luxury to her ensemble. The bracelet-style watch gave off a subtle, sophisticated glimmer, enhancing the old Hollywood glamour of the look.

While the gown and accessories were vintage-inspired, Kaia kept things fresh with a modern hairstyle—a decision I absolutely loved. It was a sharp contrast to the overly nostalgic looks some stars go for (looking at you, Sabrina Carpenter at the VMAs). Kaia struck the perfect balance between past and present, proving she’s not just following in her mother’s footsteps—she’s carving her own path.

Jimmy Choo Ixia pumps completed her look.

Stylist: Molly Dickson.
