The “Happier Than Ever” singer reimagines the sneaker classic with her own twist.
Besides her music, Billie Eilish is known for her youthful, mix-match approach with her style. She tends to incorporate baggy, oversized looks on-and-off the red-carpet, emulating the skater-girl look we’ve always envied. Like most of us, Eilish’s fashion sense is very much representative of her–colorful and expressive–and presents a new contemporary perspective on self-expression. This makes her the perfect person for Nike’s newest collection.
In her collaboration with the lifestyle brand, Eilish was able to reimagine some of her favorite Nike classics, including the famous Air Force 1 sneakers, using a Eilish-inspired color palette and environmentally-preferred materials. The shoe will use “18% post-consumer recycled content, including a synthetic nubuck upper that uses 80% recycled materials, 100% recycled polyester details and an underfoot made with Nike Grind”–Nike’s manufacturing scrap from unused materials and end-of-life footwear.
“so excited to announce my new @nike air force 1 and apparel collection,” said Eilish on Instagram. “it was an honor to reimagine the originals while making them my own & i can’t WAIT for them to be yours.”
Billie’s take on the AF-1 one features an oversized style through its chunky midfoots straps, which are softened, through its look and feel, with a synthetic nubuck material. This style is also seen in other Nike classics, including the Alpha Force Low and Air Trainer 3. The straps cover the shoelaces “and are finished with tabs that mirror the Nike Grind midsole,” all in a striking yet simple tonal beige mushroom color. This will be Eilish’s second collaboration with Nike, following her designs with Nike on the sold-out Green Ghost Air Jordan 1 and Air Jordan 15 sneakers.
Following the mushroom color scheme, Nike x Billie Apparel Collection will have garments that are usually worn by Eilish: hoodies, sweatpants and a t-shirt. All three of the items will be oversized in fit and have subtle “Billie Eilish” graphics on them.
Nike x Billie Apparel Collection and AF-1s will be released globally on April 25th via the Nike SNKRS app and store.billieeilish.com. View the campaign below.
