Our ‘90s hair obsession is going absolutely no-where. But next up on the list of beauty trends to resurrect is the ’90s heartthrob bob, coined by LA-based hair stylist, Mara Roszak, who created a modern rendition on muse and model, Mariah Krey.

Named after our ultimate ’90s crushes, the heartthrob bob is a gender fluid cut that references back to the cropped, layered cut that some of our favorite movie stars were wearing throughout the decade. Cameron Diaz wore hers rounded and lobe-length. Leonardo Dicaprio, Matt Damon and Brad Pitt gave us their versions complete with curtain bangs. Natalie Portman wore hers mega blunt and nape-bearing for her film debut as protégé hit-girl, Mathilda in Léon: The Professional. And Keanu Reeves wore his swooshy and pushed back.

Now? We’re ready to go again with the cut becoming a defining style for a new-gen of heartthrobs— just ask Korean boyband, BTS. It’s a cool way to nod to the wave of ‘90s nostalgia that’s overtaken beauty trends in the last couple of years, without going too girly. So, if you’re not on board with butterfly clips, baby bangs and hair beads, this offers another more neutral and gritty way to go.
