It could’ve been really easy for Jada Pinkett Smith and her stylist Georgia Medley to opt for a series of custom Dolce & Gabbana looks like Will Smith did, or match him for colour, but the actress opted to forge her own path.
I never subscribe to the notion that a “plus one” shouldn’t dress the part of a leading actress, especially when your leading man is likely to be taking home those gold statues at the end of the night.
I know a lot of you weren’t on board with the Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture Oscar night gown, but my only reservation about this look were the shoes.
So my favourites were the vintage Gareth Pugh from the SAG Awards, and the custom Dolce & Gabbana from the Vanity Fair Oscar Party.
This was the hardest one for me to pick from because the magpie in me adores the Dolce, but there’s something about the navy vintage Gareth Pugh that I have found mesmerizing from the minute I saw it.
So based on my gut feeling, it’s the Pugh for me.
