A few hours before the start of the 2022 Grammys, global pop star Ariana Grande informed her 303 million fans on Instagram that she wouldn’t be in attendance for the ceremony in Las Vegas.

In a post on her feed, she wrote, “Some positions memories to celebrate grammy day 🙂 reflecting on an incredible process with so many creatives that i love and respect so deeply. i love this album so. it’s an honor to be recognized today alongside so many brilliant musicians and human beings that i love. to have each other, to have the gifts that we have, to share and feel heard.. is not something to take for granted, we’ve already won. 🙂 have a beautiful time, i am celebrating all of you there today!”

The Grammy nominee, who is nominated for album of the year, best pop solo performance, and best pop vocal album, wasn’t previously scheduled to perform or present, but it’s still a bummer for her many fans. She didn’t give a reason for why she’s not attending, only that she wouldn’t be there in person.

The 28-year-old already has two Grammys. She won her first Grammy in 2019 for best pop album for Sweetener, but she was also absent for that ceremony. In 2021, she won her second Grammy for best pop duo/group performance with Lady Gaga for “Rain on Me,” but didn’t attend either.

She last appeared at the 2020 Grammys, where she wore a stunning strapless gray Giambattista Valli Haute Couture gown with a tiered tulle skirt. She also performed at the ceremony.

Ariana Grande attends the 62nd Annual GRAMMY Awards at Staples Center on January 26, 2020 in Los Angeles, California.
