When Lizzo and her beauty team collaborate, you know a gorgeous look is about to be painted, styled, and sculpted on the pop star. Her team consists of hairstylist Shelby Swain, makeup artist Alexx Mayo, and nail artist Eri Ishizu who always manage to execute eye-catching beauty moments that we can’t get enough of.
Take Lizzo’s pretty-in-pink birthday photoshoot that the trio collaborated on. The singer-songwriter popped out of a giant cake with a massive hot pink bouffant and matching eye and lip makeup — the extraness of the monochromatic look felt like a match made in heaven for the vibrant star.
Lizzo and her team didn’t skimp out on the drama for the 2022 Met Gala leaning into dark lips, finger waves, and lengthy corkscrew-shaped nails for the gilded glamour theme. She walked the red carpet in a structured black dress with a massive black jacket with golden floral appliques. Mayo kept her eye makeup neutral with a smoked-out cut crease using Charlotte Tilbury products. He dusted an orangey blush on her cheeks and swiped a deep burgundy matte pigment onto her lips.

Lizzo’s hair was full of texture, volume, and sleek finger waves. Swain styled her hair into greased-down finger waves, stopping about a quarter of the way down her head. The rest of her hair flowed around her in undefined curls that have just the right amount of frizz. A few thin pieces of hair were swooped and looped around her hairline for some light baby hairs.
The last part of the look was these epic nails. These dark nails looked longer than a tube of bullet lipstick. It’s amazing how Ishizu filed Lizzo’s nails into the corkscrew shape, and we can only imagine how long it took. After sculpting the shape, she painted the abstract nails with Opi’s GelColor in Black Onyx. Though most of the nail looks black, the corkscrew portion had a golden hue that complemented her overall black-and-gold ensemble.
