New music and good vibes are on the horizon.
Mark your calendars – This September 2nd, Rina Sawayama is set to release her latest creative project, Hold the Girl.
In true Rina fashion, the artist teased her big announcement with the release of another. A few weeks ago she released a single from the project, “This Hell.” Before bursting into the first verse, Rina makes an ode to Shania Twain. Kicking off the song with “let’s go girls,” the singer-songwriter moves into the verse listing out more of her icons – from the likes of Britney, Whitney and Princess Diana.
“I had so much fun writing ‘This Hell,’” she shares. “The past couple of years I’ve been listening to lots of female country singers and wanted to write a euphoric and tongue-in-cheek country-pop song. Country music at its core to me represents comfort, brilliant storytelling and authentic expression of the writer’s reality. I’ve been dreaming of working with Paul Epworth my entire career so I knew it was meant to be when we finished this song in a day. I put in as many iconic pop culture moments as I can, but the song is more than that.”
The high-energy song is co-produced by Paul Epworth and Clarence Clarity, the song kicks off the album on a high. Rina kicks off the track with an ode to Shania Twain as she says “let’s go girls” before bursting into the first verse.
And if that wasn’t enough, you can also catch Rina perform across Europe, where she is set to headline a slew of festivals.
