Oh my god, it’s Aaron Rose Philip, the model everyone wants a piece of but no one can touch. Stand back as the 21-year-old fashion darling goes off on wigs, selfies, and cheese clutches while serving major boot.

THE BRONX

“I’ve been living between the Bronx and Harlem basically my whole life. Sometimes it feels like a different realm. I can’t really imagine myself without it. It’s the least gentrified place in New York.”

———

SELFIES

“I’m learning to take better selfies. They used to be hard for me because I used to not be able to reach out my hand like that, but now it’s better. Now I’m feeling my vibe, like, ‘Yas selfie!’”

———

PISCES

“Pisces season, baby that’s every day, all day, 24/7. Because that’s how we roll. Aquamarine is the prettiest birthstone and Rihanna is a Pisces. Need I say more?”

———

WIGS

“I’m like Moira from Schitt’s Creek. I literally have 5,000 wigs at home. I love being able to transform into different characters. It’s kind of like shedding skin all the time.”

———

ACTIVISM

“I never doubted or downplayed it, but I’ve been going back and forth with that terminology my whole life. But the world needs activism because the world is backwards, so we love activism in this household.”

MOSCHINO

“I love Jeremy Scott so much. Moschino really believes in me. Moschino is life. Moschino is love. Moschino is iconic. Moschino is fashion, honey. Moschino forever.”

THE DOLLS

“The dolls are dolling. Shoutout Devin Halbal! We are stepping into our power and making it ours. The dolls are owning everything and giving ourselves flowers!”

———

ACCESSIBILITY

“It’s such a big problem that almost nobody who isn’t disabled cares about it. There are whole countries that don’t have wheelchair access. If you go to Europe, and you have a disability, or use a mobility aid of any kind, it’s going to be really hard. Even in New York City, the subways barely have wheelchair access. The world would be a much better place if accessibility and disability were included in the conversation around social justice and diversity. It’s time to wake it up, for real.”

ANTIGUA

“There are 365 beaches in Antigua. ‘One for everyday of the year,’ is what they say. I want to go back so bad. I miss my mommy so much!”

———

CHEESE CLUTCH

“The other day, I went out to the Met with my best friend Katzil, and I took my bag of Cheetos in my left hand with my Moschino shades. I said, ‘Baby, this is my cheese clutch.’”

———

PHOTOGRAPHY

“Before I entered the fashion industry as a model I was studying photography at an extracurricular program at NYU Tisch, and working towards a photography career. What I love about it is having the ability to show people how you personally perceive whatever it is that you’re centering or making the subject of your photo. Photography is a way of giving life.”

———

FASHION WEEK

“I love fashion week. Listen, I’m trying to be on that runway, honey. It would be my honor and pleasure to be able to walk fashion weeks around the world, but the lack of accessibility and accommodations for disabled models has made it difficult.”

———

ANITTA

“How is she even a real person? I’ve never seen anyone like her. So effortlessly gorgeous. For real. She’s the moment. I love to see it. I love to see her!”

———

REPRESENTATION

“The conversations around representation and diversity are practically sisters. There’s been progress for many minority groups in fashion, but other people are left out of the conversation almost entirely. It needs to go so much further.”

———

WORK

“I’ll do any and everything I can to be the best I can be while working. I don’t know why. Something takes over. Work is a blessing.”
