The fashion house explores the ways in which artwork and fashion interact in their pre-Autumn/Winter 22 capsule.

Alexander McQueen Process Collection

A universal fact about art is that it will always be subjective. When it comes to creativity, a subject can evolve drastically as it moves through different perspectives — becoming something which is beyond the subject itself, but rather a reflection of its observers. Digging into this sentiment, Alexander McQueen unveils their pre-Autumn/Winter 2022 capsule: PROCESS.

Inviting a group of twelve artists to exclusively view the collection of floor-length ball gowns, boxy power suits, and cocktail dresses sporting floating hemlines, Alexander McQueen allowed their pieces to be reimagined at the hands of creatives — exploring the inextricable link between fashion and art.

Speaking of her motivation behind the concept, Creative Director Sarah Burton explains, “I wanted to engage in a new creative dialogue with the collection this season and see how the artists interpreted the work that we created in the studio. It’s been very interesting to see how creativity has sprung from so many different perspectives and the outcomes that have been varied and beautiful. We wanted the artists to have total freedom to respond to the looks, creating bold and thought-provoking conversations with their works. I hope that viewers will be as inspired as we have all been by witnessing these creative processes.”

Each artist selected one look to channel through their chosen creative medium. The artwork will be displayed alongside its corresponding McQueen piece in a temporary installation in order to showcase the never-ending possibilities in which artwork and fashion can interact.
