We’ve loved watching the recent evolution of fashion’s relationship with the more playful end of the pop cultural spectrum – more specifically, the 2021 pairing of Moschino and Sesame Street, as well as the Etro Chinese New Year collection featuring Kung Fu Panda. But Burberry is going it a little more edgy with their latest Mythical Games collab, a follow up from the inaugural pairing in 2021.

Indeed, with Burberry x Blankos Block Party, the exalted British fashion house delves deep into the wildly popular multiplayer online game, which was launched by Mythical in December of 2020, and reached a million players exactly one year later. Burberry worked with the developer to create a unique social space within the game called ‘The Oasis’, a cabana style resort allowing players to meet up and share a virtual experience.

Within the space are beaches, branded boats and sun loungers, all taking inspiration from the TB Summer Monogram destination takeovers in Saint-Tropez, South Korea, Singapore and Ibiza. (This is especially handy for those who can’t bear the thought of the gasoline tab from making the drive to a real beach destination this year.)

A limited edition Burberry Blanko NFT takes the form of a charmingly plaid-clad unicorn named Minny B, with the NFT collection extending to branded in-game accessories, including horseshoe necklaces, a seashell-inspired Shellphone, and a really cool looking boombox, which will surely be the must-have virtual accessory for the summer ’22 season.

“Luxury is an industry built on fantasy and expression,” observes Burberry VP of Channel Innovation Rachel Waller, “so in many ways, gaming is a canvas perfectly suited to bringing these dreams to life. The metaverse provides limitless opportunities for us to flex our imagination and connect with our customers in richer ways, and we’re excited to continue to experiment in this space.”

The NFT collection is available now for in-game purchases to all Blankos Block Party players worldwide. To those seeking a more tangible fashion experience, Burberry has striking new flagship stores in both Paris and London.
