Deciding what to wear for Thanksgiving is difficult. You have to think of your company and how much you’re going to eat.

Figuring out what to wear for any celebration is difficult, whether it is a wedding or a massive family picnic. Thanksgiving is a tricky one to figure out what to wear because you have a number of different factors to consider. You have to figure out how formal the dinner is (not easy when it is at your BF’s uncle’s house) if you have to adhere to some random theme, and most importantly, you have to make sure that your outfit will please your conservative Grandma. And you have to ensure that whatever you’re going to eat will accommodate a large turkey and pie food, baby.

So, how do you figure out what to wear for Thanksgiving? Do you have a go-to family occasion outfit? Do you always wear your loosest pants? Or do you wear something that you can fall asleep in and head out to the Black Friday sales in and still look half decent?

As much as I would like to just wear my PJs or a pair of baggy pants with an elastic waist, I know that isn’t going to cut it. Luckily, my family’s Thanksgivings aren’t too formal, so I don’t have to worry about getting gravy on a fancy party dress. I normally consider how cold it is outside and what kind of outfit I would feel comfortable eating two to three pieces of pie in. Normally, I go for something dark. It looks dressier, plus it conceals cranberry sauce stains, and I just generally like dark colors. I usually opt for skinny pants and a loose-fitting top, which is similar to what I would wear every day. Then I jazz it up with a necklace or stack of bracelets.
