Despite our best efforts, the low-rise trend has fully infiltrated mainstream fashion, seeping beyond its rightful place in fond Y2K memory. It’s thanks to celebrities like Sydney Sweeney, Keke Palmer, and Dua Lipa. In the beginning, it seemed like a fun exercise in nostalgia. But now, it’s time to face the consequences. Julia Fox, a fashion icon in her own right, has finally gotten her hands on low-rise, and in true Fox fashion, she has taken the trend to the ultimate level.

The actress and certified muse was spotted at a restaurant in New York City sporting a pair of black leather pants that went down further than any other pant has ever dared to go. She was joined by “Selling Sunset” star Christine Quinn, who wore a yellow ruffled mini dress with side cutouts, as well as drag artist CT Hedden, and model Amelia Gray Hamlin. The sheer nonchalance with which Fox wears these NSFW pants makes us think she might be some sort of genius: the kind that knows she can garner a ridiculous amount of engagement at the drop of a pin . . . or the cut of her pants. She gets people talking, and besides the many questions we may have about the logistics of her outfit (how she keeps everything in place, whether or not sitting is an option, who her wax girl might be), you can’t deny her ability to spark a conversation.

In case this particular look didn’t have you convinced, Fox most recently left people aghast after she went grocery shopping in her underwear. And before that, she turned heads by converting her jeans into a bra top. But despite all her many viral fashion moments, the internet still can’t seem to decide whether she’s an innovative legend with a flair for dramatics, merely another celebrity looking for attention, or both. On the off chance that it really isn’t that deep, and this is, indeed, just a confident woman rocking a pair of utterly bizarre bottoms, we invite you to take a look and enjoy Fox winning the award for the ultimate low rise. No one wears the crown (or the pants) quite like her!
