Three days after Travis Barker was rushed to the hospital with “life-threatening” pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas), the Blink-182 drummer and wife Kourtney Kardashian are opening up about the scary ordeal.

In a series of Instagram stories shared by Barker and Kardashian, the couple disclosed that the pancreatitis was caused by complications following a routine endoscopy. According to Kardashian, both of them went in for a routine on June 27, though Barker was the only one who suffered “severe” results. Based on their posts, it seems Barker is still recovering in the hospital.

“I went in for an endoscopy Monday feeling great,” Barker wrote in an Instagram story on July 2. “But after dinner, I developed excruciating pain and have been hospitalized ever since.” He continued, “During the endoscopy, I had a very small polyp removed right in a very sensitive area, usually handled by specialists, which unfortunately damaged a critical pancreatic drainage tube. This resulted in severe life-threatening pancreatitis.”

Barker concluded the message by adding that he is “very very grateful” for the “intensive treatment” he’s currently receiving at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where he was transferred after seeking care at West Hills Hospital on June 29, per TMZ.

Kourtney Kardashian also described the situation on her Instagram Story. “Oh what a scary and emotional week it’s been. Our health is everything and sometimes we take for granted how quickly it can change,” she began her post on June 2.

After explaining what went down to her own followers, she added, “I am so grateful to God for healing my husband, for all your prayers for him and for us, for the overwhelming outpouring of love and support. I am so touched and appreciative. I am so so thankful to our specialists, doctors, and nurses at Cedars Sinai for taking such wonderful care of my husband and me during our stay.
