Model Alva Claire opens OpéraSPORT’s debut show at Copenhagen Fashion Week wearing a look from her design collaboration
Copenhagen Fashion Week has kicked off with the hottest trends and the most covetable collections for the following season. This year is extra special for emerging label OpéraSPORT—they launched the Edition 12 collection at their Copenhagen Fashion Week debut!
Based in both Copenhagen and Paris, Co-founders Awa Malina Stelter and Stephanie Gundelach launched their label with the intent of making sustainable fashion sexy. Since the start, the brand has incorporated a sustainable and new way of thinking into its DNA. They’ve translated this by releasing smaller editions rather than full collections per season as a means to limit excess.
The Edition 12 collection was crafted from a place of symbolism, which stems from Stelter and Gundelach’s exploration of the similarities and contrasts between their love for each city.
Inspired by the sculptures that adorn both cities, the two creatives look through photographic archives and were especially drawn to a sculpture of a mother and a small child. Both in a special place in their lives as mothers, Edition 12 represents the love, happiness, and chaos of motherhood while paying tribute to the female body in all ages, shapes, and sizes.
The collection consists of 12 styles ranging from sizes XS to 2XL, fusing sporty and wearable forms with sexy contrast cuts. Also weaved into this season’s collection is a collaborative project with model Alva Claire who opened the show with a look she helped design. Claire was inspired by her favorite vintage pieces from her archive and combined those with OpéraSPORT’s DNA of essential shapes and recycled materials.
