In its latest issue, the British style imprint, which relaunched in 2019, will profile up-and-coming creative talents from around the world, said Christopher Simmonds, who joined the magazine as creative director in May.

Under the theme of “newness,” The Face’s Issue 012 features rising actors like Gossip Girl 2.0′s Whitney Peak, as well as an interview with Montreal-based rapper Skiifall.

The issue will also tackle social topics such as the widespread use of cocaine among football fans in the UK, as well as commentary on the story of US rapper Young Thug, who is awaiting trial after he and various associates of his record label were charged with allegedly violating the US’ Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organisations (RICO) Act. The case caused widespread controversy after it was confirmed that the rapper’s lyrics would be admissible as evidence during the trial.

”The most important thing to me is that The Face is not a seen as fashion magazine,” Simmonds told BoF. “We wanted to cover everything that is relevant in society and culture now, rather than just having pretty pictures for people to look at.”

The magazine’s cover features the work of Central Saint Martins graduate designer and artist Amanda Colares Silva.

The issue, which will launch on Sep. 31, 2022, will be Simmonds’ first as creative director. Before joining The Face, he worked on campaigns for luxury brands including Gucci, Balenciaga and Dior, and was the creative director of Dazed, where he oversaw the title’s redesign in 2010.
