In a sea of snatched baddies and grunge girlies, Katie Holmes is the one true queen of boho—as loyal to knit fringe and oversize silhouettes as a Kardashian to sponcon.
So imagine my surprise when the actor-director arrived at the Tom Ford fashion show on Wednesday, September 14, clad in a body-hugging black Tom Ford wrap dress complete with a hood and styled with slick side bangs and the teensiest satin clutch. She finished the look with metallic gold stilettos, which peeked out from beneath her hem, adding a subtle sparkle to the Jedi-esque ensemble.
Katie whomst?
While hooded dresses are harder to come by, and maybe not the most accessible for everyday wear, you can channel Holmes’ goth energy with the right black dress.
Also seemingly out of style character for Holmes are her stacked, blingy rings, the only visible jewelry save for her tried-and-true hoop nose ring.
This fashion one-eighty is likely a onetime departure that can be chalked up to New York Fashion Week and the allure of Mr. Tom Ford’s aesthetic expertise. But the more avant-garde style looks good on Holmes, who wears wet hair exceptionally well, even though her inclination is toward a messy bun or “woke up like this” waves.
