It’s been reported that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are now on their way to Balmoral Castle—which certainly seems to confirm the reports that Queen Elizabeth’s time is approaching fast. Luckily already in the UK, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were scheduled for a charity event in London, according to ITV News royal editor Chris Ship.

Buckingham Palace said in a statement on September 8 that the queen’s doctors were “concerned for her health,” and that she had subsequently been placed under medical supervision at Balmoral, with her son Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles already at her side, per the Guardian. Other senior royals, including Prince William and Princess Anne, have also made their way to the Scottish castle to be with the queen.

The Sussexes and the palace have always insisted that whatever royal rift is dividing Harry and Meghan from other members of the family, Harry has always remained Elizabeth’s beloved grandson. A royal insider told People in June that the Sussexes have kept in touch with the queen via regular video chats and that they have stayed as close as ever. “If Harry asks, the Queen would say yes—as she adores him,” a friend said.

As for the tensions between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and Prince William and Kate Middleton? Well, they do say that tragedy tends to bring people together. Maybe this will be the thing that finally brings the brothers back together for real. But maybe not.
