New York is many things: the city that never sleeps, the Big Apple, the center of the universe. But, above all else, it’s a walking city, requiring of its millions of pedestrians a pair of shoes that’ll comfortably take you from uptown to Soho and—around this time of year—across a pile of sludge at an intersection, too. Enter Camperlab’s Tossu sneaker, a functional and futuristic shoe that’s perfect for city life and, somewhat ironically, named after the slang word for “sneaker” on the Finnish countryside. Designed and made in Spain, Tossu is fully recyclable, comprised entirely of polymer-based materials; its rubber outsole and bonded construction guarantees comfort and adds an element of grunge to an otherwise workaday shoe. At Interview, we’re always looking to stop traffic, so we photographed the magazine’s fashion director, Dara, power-walking through lower Manhattan in all four Tossu color ways: black, white, beige, and burgundy-blue.
