As expected, there was plenty of excellent fashion on the red carpet: Rihanna arrived in an offbeat look by Rick Owens, while Letitia Wright paid a touching tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman in a bejeweled Alexander McQueen blazer that resembled the Givenchy haute couture suit Boseman wore to the 2018 Oscars.
Lupita Nyong’o, who plays Nakia in the film, was positively glowing in a knotted white one-shoulder dress by Balmain, which she wore with an intricate shell crown and purple shoes. As the new global ambassador for De Beers (she stars in the brand’s Where It Begins campaign), Lupita had first pick of its diamond jewelry to wear to the event, and she chose a suite of diamond rings, earrings, and bracelets for the occasion.
