Following the LACMA Art + Film Gala, Janelle Monáe was back on the red carpet again in black and white for the CFDA Awards which were held at the Casa Cipriani on Monday (November 7) in New York City.
I’m sure none of you are surprised to see her wearing the black and white version of this Thom Browne Spring 2023 voluminous cape.
I would say it suits Janelle’s style better than the two previous wearers from this collection; Gwendoline Christie and Queen Latifah, and this is despite Janelle being considerably more petite.
I would’ve expected a piece like this to totally overwhelm the singer-actress, but if anything the volume works in her favour, allowing an even more theatrical entrance.
I love how she didn’t rest on her laurels as she styled the look with a classic Thom Browne doggy bag and Thom Browne platforms with stacked blocks which read, “Thom Browne New York.”
Alexandra Mandelkorn must have so much fun styling Janelle. What a dream client.
