Julia Fox just put a very Julia Fox spin on this controversial beauty trend

Skinny brows, once so popular in the ’90s, have enjoyed something of a comeback in recent months. Everyone from Bella Hadid to Doja Cat has experimented with the trend, while Nicola Peltz swapped her own full, feathery brows for pencil-thin arches recently. So far, so foreign, for those of us who have spent years cultivating the most fulsome brows possible. But the straightforward skinny brow of old suddenly looks wearable next to Julia Fox’s latest take on the trend.

In the spirit of being… well, Julia Fox, the flamboyant actor—who is always willing to take a trend three steps further than the average celebrity—unveiled theatrical new brows at the opening of the Thierry Mugler: Couturissime exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum in New York on Tuesday night.

Fox didn’t just experiment with the thickness of her brows, but their angle, too. With her natural eyebrows erased (a trend she tried last week, when she attended the 2022 CFDA Awards with grey hair and bleached brows), her ultra-raised arches were drawn on at a slant to look strict, severe and undeniably striking.

Not for the faint-hearted, a look like this is hard to pull off. And whether Fox nails it or not, these boundary-pushing brows complemented her cut-out ensemble well. She certainly stood out on the red carpet, which is always the goal for this star. Mission accomplished.
