Kylie Jenner deserves a trick and a treat. The makeup mogul dressed as Elvira, Cassandra Peterson’s “Mistress of the Dark” persona from TV and movies, for Halloween this year, but could have offered a bit more credit to her look’s originator.
“I didn’t get a heads up that Kylie was doing the costume, but she did the costume justice and it was very flattering,” Peterson told TMZ, adding, “It would have been even more flattering if she tagged me.”
We agree! Though Jenner was careful to tag her photographer in all of her studio shots, she wasn’t exactly effusive in her praise for the woman to whom she seemed to be paying homage. One post is captioned simply “ELVIRA” and another “Mistress Of The Dark.” A third says “Kyvira” even though “Elkyra” is right there. Ky, do you wanna…say anything else? You’re both from LA and rose to fame on TV, let’s get into that!
On her own page, Peterson posted a meme’d image of Jenner in her spider bra with the text “In a world full of Kardashians, be an Elvira.”
Remember six years ago when Anne Hathaway posted “In a world full of Kardashians, be a Helena Bonham Carter” and people were like “why you gotta pit women against each other?” so Hathaway took it down? 2016 was a really confusing time and I hope Elvira can keep her post up because honestly it’s fine.
If she wanted to be really petty, Peterson could dress as Kylie Jenner at the next available opportunity. (For Halloween this year, she went as a groovy fairy – “Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds.”)
Jenner, meanwhile, used Halloween as an excuse to dress not just as Elvira but also as an alien, an alien-fighter and the Bride of Frankenstein(‘s monster), in full glam with a photo shoot and graphics and everything. Spooky.
