2,445 miles. 2,445 miles marks the distance between New York CIty and Los Angeles, where designer Rhuigi Villaseñor is based, and yet Rhuigi looks across to the East Coast for inspiration in his latest partnership with PUMA. In this highly limited, special capsule, Rhuigi pays homage to the five boroughs, while celebrating PUMA’s long standing role in promoting fashion culture globally.
The capsule makes a statement with a Faux-Leather Down Jacket paired with the iconic PUMA Suede, reimagined by Rhuigi himself. Covered in collegiate-style patches and appliques, the jacket is reminiscent of American classics, just with that Rhuigi flair. The accompanying sneaker is covered in premium black leather, textile detailing on the heel and the year “1991” stamped into the side in gold.
The campaign stars real New Yorkers and paints a colorful mosaic of the city’s individuality through these participants. There’s Liv, an artist who can simultaneously dribble two balls, Yang Xiao Di, a Chinese juggling master who has performed with countless groups and even a bucket drummer, industrial percussionist and composer named Jared Crawford.
Founder of clothing label RHUDE, Rhuigi is no stranger melding American classics with a wide range of cultural influences, which he so carefully does in this new collaboration.
The latest PUMA x Rhuigi capsule will be available worldwide online and in PUMA stores starting on Dec 17th.
