Eddie Redmayne Wore Alexander McQueen To The 2023 BAFTAs

The way I screamed when I saw Eddie Redmayne at the 2023 BAFTAs on Sunday (February 19), was equal to the excitement of seeing Angelina Jolie in Atelier Versace at the 2011 Oscars and Cate Blanchett in Givenchy Haute Couture at the 2011 Oscars.

I know some of you aren’t so enthused about Eddie’s style since working with Harry Lambert, but I love this unpredictable phase of his red carpet journey, which saw him wearing a custom Alexander McQueen tuxedo jumpsuit on the red carpet.

We have to go back to LaKeith Stanfield’s 2021 Oscars iconic Saint Laurent look for the last time we saw a menswear jumpsuit on the red carpet.

Back then it was considered a trailblazing look, so I’m delighted to see it once again, delivered with Eddie’s usual panache.

This might seem weird (lol), but I’m glad he didn’t shave his chest.

Eddie’s wife, Hannah Redmayne who was also dressed in Alexander McQueen, gives me hope when it comes to sheer dresses.

The lining (or layer) couldn’t be more perfect. Covering just the body, and most importantly, reaching the hemline of the gown.

I’m bet many of you are now wishing Anne Hathaway had done this with her Valentino dress in Berlin.

I knew it wasn’t so hard.

We shouldn’t be that surprised, as Eddie rocked an embellished sheer top with an undetectable lining to the GQ Men of the Year Awards back in December.  This comes down to their stylist.

They were the best dressed couple for me.

Prior to the main event, Eddie attended a pre-BAFTA party wearing another Alexander McQueen look.

At first I thought this was a rerun, until I looked back over this catalogue to discover that this Alexander McQueen blazer has a similar style to the one he wore to the ‘The Good Nurse’ London Film Festival premiere.

I prefer the defined cut-outs on this one.

Two for two.
