Elizabeth Banks attended the Los Angeles premiere of Universal Pictures’ ‘Cocaine Bear’ on Tuesday (February 21), and I think I didn’t post it yesterday because I was so incredibly disappointed.
As you know Elizabeth Banks is my girl, so it pains me to say, “Girl. This is not your dress.”
I had such high hopes for this Alaïa Spring 2023 gold and silver embellished draped dress.
Before I get to the styling, I have to point out the top half of the look.
Why is so much of the material gathered on her chest?
I can’t imagine this was to make the dress shorter, because you would do that around the waist…surely?
So I can only conclude that this dress just did not fit, or the modification from a scoop neck to a v-neck didn’t work.
So why wear it? Where was Plan B?
And then we get to the styling; specifically the hair.
This blowout doesn’t work with this style of dress.
Copy the runway. Give this dress the slick back ponytail or high bun it was calling out for.
I like the tights but those Versace Aevitas pointy platform pumps were the final nail in the coffin.
This is a truly shockingly bad outing by anyone’s standards.
It’s almost like those bad dupes you get from Wish or Ali Express.
I’m praying for a rerun because this is so cringe, and the craftsmanship of this dress deserves better.
