Fashion revolutionary Katie Holmes just did it again. And by it, I mean inspire me with yet another life-changing outfit. On Saturday, February 25, the First Daughter star was spotted in New York City (as always, does she ever leave?) in a sensible, cozy errands outfit that I am going to copy.
Holmes paired black sweatpants and a white sweater with a long vegan sherpa coat by Simkhai. For footwear she opted for a platform sneakers that add some subtle color to the neutral ensemble. She styled her hair in a messy low ponytail and finished the look with a pair of tortoiseshell sunglasses and a pink face mask.
All of this seems pretty standard: What’s so revolutionary about wearing a coat and sweatpants? It’s all about the accessories. Katie Holmes wore not one but two purses. One is a smaller black handbag, and the other is a large black tote. With two bags she can carry anything and everything. To think I placed my handbag inside my tote bag the other day because I was embarrassed to be seen by strangers carrying two bags? Never again.
Holmes is always on a roll sartorially, but as of late she’s pulled off every experimental look she’s worn, including massive gold pants, massive gold hoops, head-to-toe leather, and, infamously, the Y2K-inspired dress-over-jeans look she wore to the Jingle Ball in December 2022 (sorry if this one still upsets you, but you have to admit that Katie Holmes kind of slayed).
