Hailey Bieber finally made her first public outing since the resurgence of her alleged feud with Selena Gomez last month. The skincare mogul showed up to Vanity Fair‘s Oscars afterparty Sunday night in a black custom Saint Laurent gown that epitomized understated elegance. But the most notable thing about Mrs. Bieber’s red carpet appearance was the mysterious absence of her husband Justin Bieber by her side. That is, until he was later spotted sneaking into the bash wearing a colorful crochet blanket.

According to Page Six, Justin met Hailey inside the event after coming in through a back entrance. “Justin did not look well,” a source recalled of the pop star’s demeanor. “He was hunched over and wearing a blanket.” Another source added that Justin seemed “tormented” and “weird.” In Vanity Fair‘s coverage of the soirée, writer Nate Freeman noted that “Justin Bieber arrived… wearing what appeared to be a quilted blanket on his back and immediately went up to Clippers star Russell Westbrook, who was clad in head-to-toe Thom Browne.”
Hours before the star-studded celebration, Justin took to Instagram to share a sweet, supportive tribute to his wife of four years. “LUV U BABY,” he captioned a pair of photos, in which he and Hailey Bieber are pictured snuggled up on a boat.
