Julia Roberts

Is it responsible for Julia Roberts to look this good in freshly cut curtain bangs? Not all of us have access to her go-to style wizard Serge Normant, who has been styling Roberts’s famous hair since Pretty Woman. I kid, of course. But she does look amazing.

Roberts, who has also returned to her iconic auburn, debuted the heavy bangs and choppy waves at the Watches and Wonders event for luxury watch brand Chopard, which is rolling out a new plan for using recycled steel in its products. The style is a sophisticated take on the trendy “wolf cut,” while the color and high volume also recall the full-bodied red curls Roberts popularized in the early ’90s.

“’Wanna Buy a Watch?’ 😁 Thank you Geneva and @Chopard,” Roberts captioned a pic of the look on Instagram, tagging her entire glam team, including stylist Elizabeth Stewart, colorist Highbrow Hippie, and master of hair himself, Normant. “❤️new hair cut!” Normant wrote on his own IG post.

In a 2020 interview with Refinery29, Normant said he’d first worked with Roberts on a photoshoot for Vanity Fair back when she was filming The Pelican Brief. “I wan’t expecting it at all, but our energies were so in sync,” the celebrity stylist said of meeting Roberts. “I remember Julia’s big fluffy dress, her sprawled across the grass in the front yard, with this intricate updo. I’ve been working with Julia ever since that day.” On creating the beloved actor’s magnificent mane, Normant said his longtime client isn’t afraid to experiment, but it always has to have that I-woke-up-like-this appeal. “Her hairstyle has to be something that’s easy and effortless, not contrived,” he said.

Of course, nobody but Julia Roberts can look this effortless all the time. So, before you try this at home, you’ve been warned.
