let style girlfriend shop for you

Hey what’s up hello — it’s us again, here to bless you with a short week and a long podcast. We’re back on the grind after Memorial Day weekend (Megan was in California, I was in Connecticut) with two big glasses of rosé and a lot of opinions. No time to waste, let’s drink to the start of summer and dive right into all our amazing evergreen #content for your ears.

Listen to the podcast below, or on iTunes, Pocket Casts, OvercastStitcher, or wherever* you get your podcasts:

*except Spotify…we’re working on it!

We hit a few fun, relatively rapid-fire listener questions…

Can you wear a black suit to dinner? Probably yes, but we don’t recommend it if you can avoid it. (Black makes sense for funerals, though navy and grey make just as much sense for that occasion, as well as for everything else.)
Do women care what you order to drink on a date? Absolutely yes. Megan and I have lots of helpful thoughts and feelings about why this matters and why caring is cool.

Summer fragrances for guys

A listener wanted to know about scents for summer. However, I don’t know much about men’s cologne and don’t mind when a guy just kind of smells like…guy. (But in a clean way, not a crunchy way).

So Megan takes the lead with some great suggestions, naturally, including her personal fav, (cue Jay Z) Tom Ford. Lucky for you guys, I actually encountered a great new men’s fragrance this weekend, Armani’s Aqua Di Gio Absolu, which is bright and citrus-y but still earthy and manly… So yeah, yum!

dating and relationships

Should you take a girl to the movies on a second date? Oh my god, no. Not surprisingly, we have all kinds of strong feelings about drinks versus dinner, sitting at the bar, and sharing spaghetti like you’re in Lady and the Tramp.

The best mens shopping in NYC

Where’s the best shopping for guys in the city? Well, we both still need to get up to the brand-new Nordstrom men’s store uptown but, you know, it’s uptown! More reasonably located SG faves include Saturday’s NYC, Uniqlo and the Billy Reid store in Noho (right next to Drake’s OVO shop, just FYI). We also love the Madison Square Park-slash-lower Fifth Avenue neighborhood for stores like Todd Snyder and Bonobos. Oh, and a really rad store whose pronunciation I couldn’t nail during our recording—Totokaelo.

We also both agree that if you do make a day of going uptown, you can’t miss Bergdorf Goodman. Très chic!

And finally, hotter than your backyard barbecue grill…it’s hot takes!

My take is somewhat inspired by recent events, and I feel compelled to share it with you, our beloved readers and listeners. I just want to reiterate the importance of something I call a “non-reactionary question.” Basically, when a woman (or anyone!) asks you, “What were you like as a kid?” and after you tell some adorable story about your soccer team and falling off a bunk bed, try to keep the conversation going with more than, “How about you?” That’s a reactionary question, and it’s boring, it’s mediocre and we’re not about that at SG.

Megan’s hot take can honestly only be described as one thing: Sweet! She wants you guys to know that anytime, for any reason, any occasion or celebration—flowers are always a good gift for women. Always. They’re romantic, they’re classic, and they are pretty much guaranteed to please. So get thee to the florist and score some points with your favorite gal, like, immediately.

WHAT’S THE BEST SECOND DATE YOU’VE EVER BEEN ON?

Here’s a fun thing!

Undressed is also on Google Play and Apple HomePod. For Google, just say, “Hey Google, play the podcast Undressed.” And for Apple Home, say, “Siri, play the podcast Undressed.”

It works! Cool, right?
