Steve Lacy came to my attention during awards season, and I have been obsessed with his style ever since.
He was back on the red carpet for the TIME100 Gala held in New York on Wednesday (April 26), where he all but confirmed his love for all things black from Saint Laurent.
The singer-songwriter wore a Saint Laurent Fall 2023 asymmetric draped top paired with flared trousers with satin stripes which showcases the label’s impeccable tailoring with an airy finish.
I think it is fair to say that his style is as smooth as his music.
The singer famously doesn’t use a stylist. Instead, he chooses his red carpet looks himself.
In a recent interview with Mr Porter he said, “Big deal – I dress myself every day,” you might think. But in the upper echelons of celebrityland, attending a star-studded event without a stylist’s help is akin to competing in Formula 1 on a penny-farthing. You might survive the racetrack, but you’re unlikely to win any prizes.
