The 2023 Chaplin Award Gala honoured Viola Davis on Monday (April 24) in New York City.
The Chaplin Award is an award that goes to an actor or filmmaker whose work embodies Charles Spencer Chaplin’s qualities of realism, diversity, and courage within their craft. These individuals have made outstanding contributions to entertainment within the field of cinema throughout the entirety of their career.
With that being said, Viola is a critically revered, award-winning actress, producer, New York Times best-selling author and one of 18 entertainers to achieve exclusive EGOT status, so this was a well-deserved honour.
The actress received her award in spectacular fashion wearing a Resort 2023 Jason Wu Collection strapless peplum dress adorned with strings of shimmering golden fringe.
We’re used to Viola dazzling us in colour, but on this occasion the silhouette and the detailing speak for themselves.
With a dress like this, it’s best to keep accessories simple, as her favourite Judith Leiber clutches, or a necklace with that curved neckline would’ve distracted us from the beauty of this dress.
Viola never disappoints.
