Louis Vuitton revealed its first campaign starring Zendaya, who makes her debut as Louis Vuitton’s newest House Ambassador and face of the iconic Capucines bag.
A recent front row guest at the Louis Vuitton Women’s Fall 2023 show in March, Zendaya is captured by photographer duo, Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, against the backdrop of E-1027 – the Roquebrune-Cap-Martin house designed by pioneering Modernist architect and designer, Eileen Gray.
Defined by the dreamy airs of the Cote d’Azur, Zendaya poses in an idyllic sequence of strong, defined images, with a series of Capucines models in tow, including a miniature Capucines BB – another campaign first. From terrace to balcony to rooftop, the actress imbues the campaign and Capucines with a fresh yet sensual grace.
Launched in 2013, the Capucines bag is named after the Rue Neuve-des-Capucines, the Paris street where Louis Vuitton opened his first store in 1854. Today, the bag is one of the Maison’s most emblematic designs, a creation of practical elegance crafted in full-grain Taurillon leather and offering multiple styles of wear (hand, shoulder, cross-body), as well as a flap that can be styled shut to display a Monogram Flower or tucked inside to reveal leather-clad LV initials.
The Capucines campaign starring Zendaya will break globally in print and on Louis Vuitton social channels starting April 20th, 2023.
We all knew this was coming. But the question we all want to know is, how strict is the contract?
I would imagine that Zendaya will be locked in, so expect only LV runway and custom looks from now on.
Hopefully she continues to dip into the archives and bring back some classic LV moments, as some of her best red carpet moments have come archival looks.
When it comes to this campaign, I have to say I really love all the looks. This is why Law Roach and Zendaya were such a formidable team.
