The amfAR Cannes Gala 2023 held at Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Cap d’Antibes, France this evening saw many more models and a few celebrities in attendance.
I cannot deny that this Gaurav Gupta Spring 2023 Couture blue sculptural gown was stunning on Coco Rocha, but when I look back on this at the end of the year, I will refer to the Cardi B Grammys moment.
Alessandra Ambrosio served up a deco inspired moment from Dundas that would’ve benefited from a shorter plunging neckline.
If you’re looking at Alex Consani and thinking that you wish she had styled her look as the model on the Ludovic de Saint Sernin Fall 2023 runway, look again. Because she is the model who originally wore this look on the runway.
Granted, her hair style was much better back then.
I haven’t liked a single look Ashley Graham has worn during Cannes, and this Nina Ricci Fall 2023 look is probably my least favourite of them all.
Aside from the comical nature of it all – too big, very cheesy – it’s lacking in glamour.
Bebe Rexha. That’s all I have to say.
Caroline Trentini in this ab-baring Roberto Cavalli Fall 2023 gold embellished gown is giving me nostalgic feelings of when Cavalli owned Cannes.
Cindy Bruna never fails to make an impact on this amfAR red carpet. Her Mônot look from last year lives rent-free in my head.
On this occasion she looked just as beautiful wearing a dazzling David Koma sequin and feather gown styled with Chopard jewels, which saw her take no inspiration from the runway.
Elsa Hosk was giving us a preview of her own HELSA label, which will soon be available on Revolve and FWRD, who were one of the sponsors of this event.
If you’re in the market for on-trend, nipple baring dresses, you now know where to shop.
Georgia Fowler was easily one of the best dressed at this event wearing a Schiaparelli Spring 2023 statuesque column dress that swathed her figure in draped jersey fabric.
Opting not to wear the toe-cap shoes, she did add the half of a face with stone piercings and a pierced ear necklace to help us easily identify this as a Schiaparelli piece.
I know that many of you are over seeing feathers at Cannes, but I wish that Halima Aden had swapped out that purple sash on her Valentino Fall 2022 Haute Couture lime green gown for a lighter colour. I find this colour combo jarring.
Speaking of feathers. Heidi Klum took over the red carpet in yet another scene-stealing creation from Georges Hobeika’s Spring 2023 Couture collection, that’s giving me big bird vibes.
Isabeli Fontana wore a Mugler, or Mugler x H&M signature panel insert look.
Jasmine Tookes supported her fellow model Elsa Hosk, by wearing a look from her HELSA label.
Jourdan Dunn was a lady in red LaQuan Smith; wearing a sequinned bustier dress featuring bow at the back.
I can’t say I’m the biggest fan of Kate Beckinsale in dark colours. This Tony Ward Spring 2023 Couture ultraviolet asymmetrical gown was too moody at Cannes for me.
Lena Mahfouf channelled her inner JLo by wearing the Versace Jungle print dress that the diva wore to close the Versace Spring 2020 show.
Chopard jewels completed her look.
Leonie Hanne (who would’ve instantly recognised Heidi Klum’s gown) is on quite a run with these barely-there gowns. This time she was dazzling wearing a Patbo x Revolve gown which feels like a nod to Bella Hadid’s 2017 amfAR moment.
Everything I said in Teyana Taylor’s post, applies to Lori Harvey in this LaQuan Smith red cut-out dress.
The déjà vu vibes are strong.
Considering the models love to give us an expected brand of glamour, I wasn’t expecting this Givenchy Fall 2023 bustier gown from Natasha Poly.
Roz kept things simple and chic wearing a Saint Laurent hooded dress from the Spring 2023 collection.
Sara Sampaio‘s Aruba blue Zuhair Murad Spring 2023 Couture chiffon gown is reminding me of how badly I need a vacation post awards season, Met Gala and Cannes (despite loving every second of it).
This is giving me blue skies and bluer seas.
A catsuit would’ve been a more seamless option as a layer for Shay Mitchell to have worn under this beautiful Cult Gaia Arya creation.
Models are really loving David Koma crystal halter gowns at Cannes, as Stella Maxwell follows Izabel Goulart.
I’m not sure if Storm Reid needed to hoick this dress up a bit, or if it needed a necklace.
