We have been starved of this level of commitment during Cannes Film Festival since Fan Bingbing’s hiatus.
Seeing the actress serve up three looks in one night – which is light work for her – is giving me nostalgic feels of her heyday.
The first of three looks came at The Red Sea x Vanity Fair ‘Women in Cinema’ event where she blew everyone else out of the water (no pun intended) wearing a Miss Sohee Spring 2023 Haute Couture look.
First thing you’ll note is how the look was improved over the runway, and how it was catered to suit the actress’ style.
She doesn’t look like she’s going to a sweet 16 party, and the level of creativity is still recognisable as a Miss Sohee look, so this makes Halle Bailey’s custom look for the London premiere all the more confusing.
But I guess when you know what you want, and have a stylist who can assist in making your dream a reality, you’ll have nothing to worry about.
If I was to nitpick, I wouldn’t have the pearl earring competing with the head piece.
For the Christine Dai x 风尚志 Gala the actress opted to wear white again.
Her Harvey Cenit gown served up more of an ethereal flair, with what feels like a dove perched on her shoulder.
The final look might just be my favourite, but I’m still undecided.
Even though the platforms have made a comeback, I’m way too enamoured by her Chung Thanh Phong Pre-Fall 2023 dress to care.
This is a butterfly dress to end all other pretenders.
I’m blown away by the craftsmanship, and the totally uniqueness of the design. Check out the video below to see just how beautiful the dress is in motion.
Fan Bingbing owns Cannes, and what I love most about each look is the celebration of Asian designers.
This is how she was introduced to us in the early days before the big brands came along, so I’m so excited to see her going back to her roots.
Credit is due to the Instagram account celebs_fashion_style, who I wouldn’t have been able to identify the last two looks without.
