Jennifer Lawrence Expensive Honey Blonde

Jennifer Lawrence debuted a new shade of expensive honey hair at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, and I don’t know if I’ve ever screenshotted a hair color faster. Although, it’s hard to say, especially with how impressive the Cannes beauty looks have been thus far. From Helen Mirren’s bright blue updo to Gigi Hadid’s bombshell blowout, it’s not easy to choose a favorite beauty look from the A-list event. But once you see photos, you’ll be sure to agree: Lawrence’s sweet new shade definitely deserves its own red-carpet screening.

The Hunger Games star made her first appearance sporting the sandy beige hue at the premiere of her forthcoming film Bread and Roses, a documentary she produced that explores the lives of three Afghan women following the Taliban takeover of Kabul in 2021. For the event, Lawrence opted for a more low-key look, wearing her honey hair in a low, effortless bun, as well as a netted Christian Dior dress with strappy detail layered underneath its open back. Stylist Jamie Mizrahi paired the sheer look with a sleek Longines watch and a pair of drop earrings by Alison Lou.

A few hours later, Lawrence made her second appearance on the Croisette, her hair in a sleek and middle-parted blowout. In a crimson Christian Dior couture gown with a ruffled bust and corseted bustier, she completed the ’90s-inspired look with a diamond choker necklace and glossy red lip. The actor draped an elegant shawl across her arms, but not before changing into a pair of flip-flops, because of course she did.

But let’s talk about J.Law’s hair color. Beauty buffs are calling the hue “expensive honey,” which is essentially a new and improved, summer-appropriate take on wintertime’s cozy blonde craze. Bolder and brighter than “cozy” blonde while still much less high-maintenance than platinum, expensive honey gives you the best of both worlds without excessive upkeep.

“Expensive honey is a warm blonde hair color trend that looks and feels expensive,” hairstylist Jennifer Korab tells Glamour. “Expensive honey has a redder and browner undertone, creating a multidimensional and rich-looking hair color.” As for why Korab think the look is so in right now? “Expensive honey is so versatile,” she says, which Lawrence’s varying Cannes looks prove. “It can suit a variety of skin tones and types, and is a popular choice if you are seeking a neutral and flattering look.”
