Melissa McCarthy rarely brings her kids along for public appearances, but The Little Mermaid premiere was an exception. On Monday, May 8, McCarthy attended the Los Angeles premiere of the film at the Hollywood Dolby Theater with her husband, Ben Falcone, and daughters Vivian, 16, and Georgette, 13, according to People. McCarthy plays Ursula, the iconic evil octopus lady in the live-action remake of the 1989 animated film which itself a very loose adaptation of the extremely bleak fairy tale.

McCarthy wore a dramatic royal blue dress from Taller Marmo with a high neck, billowing sleeves, and a fringed hem. She added matching opera gloves and heels to complete the monochrome look. In the spirit of Ursula, she opted for a dark smokey eyeshadow (but no red lip). Vivian joined her parents on the thematically blue carpet (it’s like ocean!) in a black gown with ruffles top and bottom, with a leather corset around the waist—truly an Ursula fashion moment. Falcone wore an all-black suit with a sparkly black shirt and tie.

Georgette, meanwhile, did not appear on the blue carpet. In an April interview with People, McCarthy discussed her parenting approach to her teen daughters’ social media.

“We keep track of it. I think it is still something to be really, really watched,” she said. “I’m sure I don’t do half as good a job as I should because I’m so bad with it.” She added that she is always reminding her kids that social media is not real life.

“I keep saying this is smoke and mirrors and entertainment, which is fine,” she continued. “I’ve said, ‘It’s as if somebody takes a character I’ve played and assumes that’s the real me.’ But that’s an ongoing fistfight that concerns me all the time.”
