INDIO CALIFORNIA APRIL 22 Lisa Jisoo Rosé and Jennie of BLACKPINK perform onstage at the 2023 Coachella Valley Music...

You might have gotten accustomed to seeing Jennie Kim gallivanting worldwide promoting The Idol, but the star is very much still on tour with Blackpink and dealing with some unexpected health issues.

On June 11, Blackpink’s Jennie made headlines after leaving the stage mid-show while performing at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena. The singer, who has been on the road since Blackpink kickstarted their Born Pink world tour in October 2022, shocked fans on-site abandoning the stage after delivering her verse of “Lovesick Girls.” She was escorted off the stage with fans showing their support.

Though Jennie left the stage without an explanation, fan footage from the night shows that fellow Blackpink members Jisoo, Rosé, and Lisa addressed the crowd on-site before the show. Since Jennie was absent during soundcheck, which fans with VIP packages got to attend, Rosé explained that Jennie had “unfortunately not been feeling too well” that day and decided to rest to save her energy for the show.

Blackpink’s label, YG Entertainment, released a statement shortly after the show ended via fan platform Weverse, citing Jennie’s “deteriorating condition” as the reason she was “unable to complete the stage.”

“We would like to extend our sincerest apologies to all the fans who have shown their support for Blackpink and those who attended the event. We kindly ask for your understanding in this situation,” the statement read. “Jennie expressed her strong determination to carry on with the performance until the end. However, following medical advice on site, we immediately took measures to ensure she receives ample rest and stability. Jennie has conveyed her regrets for not being able to stay with the fans until the end, and assures that she will recover as soon as possible.”

Though she received overwhelming support from fans online, a day later, Jennie decided to address the situation and fans directly using her Instagram stories. “Dear Melbourne Blinks. I’m so sorry I wasn’t able to finish the show on Sunday,” she wrote. “I’m doing my best to recover atm. Your understanding and support [mean] the world to me. Thank you to everyone who came to our Melbourne show. Love you, guys.”
