Elle Fanning

Elle Fanning is continuing to turn heads in Los Angeles after dominating the red carpet at Cannes Film Festival.

Throughout May, Fanning made headlines with a series of eye-catching looks on the Croisette—from a bespoke Alexander McQueen gown to a silver Paco Rabanne party look with sculptural nipple covers. Her looks off the red carpet also drew praise—particularly the dreamy, yet casual black corset dress by Bottega Veneta (which would later be worn in Paris by Kylie Jenner).

While out in LA on June 7, Fanning gave the corset trend another wearable, yet flirty spin by pairing a structured black corset with visible boning and fastenings with a pair of semi-baggy trousers and pointed-toe pumps. The lack of jewelry only added to the look’s effortless appeal, while harkening back to the age of the going-out top.

Elle Fanning recently discussed the ups and downs of her decades-long Hollywood career during The Hollywood Reporter’s annual women-in-comedy round table, specifically recalling a particularly “disgusting” incident when she was just 16 years old.

“I’ve never told this story, but I was trying out for a movie. I didn’t get it. I don’t even think they ever made it, but it was a father-daughter road trip comedy,” Fanning explained to a group of fellow accomplished actors. “I didn’t hear from my agents because they wouldn’t tell me things like this—that filtration system is really important because there’s probably a lot more damaging comments that they filtered—but this one got to me. I was 16 years old, and a person said, ‘Oh, she didn’t get the father-daughter road trip comedy because she’s unfuckable.’”

Though she didn’t disclose the name of the “disgusting pig” who made the comment, she says she “can laugh about it now.”
