Penelope Cruz return to the red carpet for the first time since the 2023 David Di Donatello Awards back in May (yet it feels like a lifetime ago) for the first Nouvelles Vagues Biarritz International Film Festival in France, where she was the guest of honour.
2023 has seen the Spanish actress mix things up in terms of her choice of labels, but on this occasion, she was back to wearing Chanel with two new looks from the Resort 2024 collection.
The first was a leather button down dress for the opening dinner on Wednesday evening (June 28).
This wouldn’t have been my first choice for the actress.
Despite it being short, and featuring a plunging neckline, this doesn’t have the appeal that her previous look did, and she was swathed in a lot more fabric on that occasion.
Overall. I didn’t find this to be a match for her style, nor did I find it that flattering.
Plus, the bag is too “daytime” for this evening look.
Earlier today, (June 29) on day two of the festival, the actress wore a Chanel printed chiffon maxi dress which was perfect for a photocall alongside a beach, bringing high-summer style in an elegant yet bohemian atmosphere.
I just wish that those vertical lines on the bodice weren’t so glaring.
A pink Chanel bag and the same black Chanel platforms from the night before completed her look.
