Catherine, Princess of Wales Wore Balmain To The 2023 Wimbledon Tennis Championships

Balmain mint green blazer

Catherine, Princess of Wales made her first appearance on day two of the 2023 Wimbledon Tennis Championships today (July 4), as the patron of the All-England Lawn Tennis Club (since 2016).

It was quite a miserable day in London today, with grey clouds and intermittent drizzle, but the Princess didn’t let the rain dampen her spirits – or her outfit choice – as she arrived to watch Katie Boulter play.

If you said to me that one day the Princess of Wales – the future Queen of England – was going to wear Balmain – I would’ve thought you were deliberately trying to be controversial, yet here we are.

My first thought when I saw the Princess in this Balmain dual coloured blazer from the Resort 2021 collection was, Barbie.

Mostly because I have been obsessed with Margot Robbie’s ‘Barbie’ promo tour, and in this case the blazer reminded me of Margot’s Versace day look from the Seoul premiere.

The blazer is a quintessential Balmain piece and has been since Christophe Decarnin’s residence at the French luxury house in the late 2000s.

Even if the brands don’t seem to naturally align, the Princess was no doubt drawn to the classic style and how it nods to Wimbledon’s white policy and mint condition grass.

Instead of a pencil skirt, Catherine styled her look with a white pleated skirt, along with her favourite white pumps, and favourite Mulberry Amberley bag.
