Emily Blunt Wore Alexander McQueen To The 'Oppenheimer' London Premiere

The premiere for ‘Oppenheimer’ started an hour earlier than usual in London this afternoon, so the cast could attend the premiere before the SAG-AFTRA strike began.

This allowed the cast time to fulfil their usual photo ops and interviews with the press, prior to exiting the red carpet before 6pm local time, when the strike officially started globally.

This is the first time in 63 years that Hollywood studios are facing a work stoppage.

The ‘Oppenheimer’ photocall – which was supposed to be today – was moved to Wednesday, which may explain why Florence Pugh was wearing a dress a size too big for her, as time may have not allowed for her to wear her first choice.

Writing about Emily Blunt attending the ‘Oppenheimer’ London premiere this evening feels eerily familiar.

Because her film ‘A Quiet Place Part II’ was the last film premiere I wrote about before lockdown back in 2020.

And with all that in mind, Emily went out with a bang, wearing a British label that continues to serve her well: Alexander McQueen.

Taking us straight back to the 1940s, this Alexander McQueen dress could be a vintage design, until you look a little deeper and realise it hails from the label’s Fall 2023 collection.

I love how Emily will always give us a moment, and this wasn’t limited to her dress (which was just as stunning from the back), as celebrity hair stylist Laini Reeves swept Emily’s hair into retro inspired curls.

Lorraine Schwartz emerald and diamond jewels and simple sandals completed her look.

Universal studios were planning an ‘Oppenheimer’ premiere on July 17 in New York City, but due to the strike, that will be cancelled, along with all other premieres (including the remaining ‘Barbie’ premieres), photocalls and work on any TVs shows or films.

Would Emily have given us a third bold shoulder look in New York?

It looks like we will never know.
