EDINBURGH SCOTLAND JULY 05 Catherine Princess of Wales known as the Duchess of Rothesay while in Scotland Prince...

Just a day after stepping out in pastel green for Wimbledon, Kate Middleton did a style 180, donning a bright royal blue ensemble for an official visit to Scotland.

Known as the Duchess of Rothesay while in Scotland (the UK is one country and four countries; don’t worry about it), she and her husband were attending a National Service of Thanksgiving and Dedication for King Charles III and Queen Camilla, held at St. Giles Cathedral in Edinburgh. Basically, it’s when Charles gets the Scottish crown jewels; his mother Queen Elizabeth II did the same thing 70 years ago. But get ready for this detail: “Unlike the 1953 service, the Stone of Destiny, on which ancient Scottish kings were crowned, will be present in the cathedral.”

What in the Indiana Jones is the Stone of Destiny!!!!!!

EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND – JULY 05: (L-R) Catherine, Princess of Wales, known as the Duchess of Rothesay while in Scotland, Prince William, Prince of Wales, known as the Duke of Rothesay while in Scotland, King Charles III and Queen Camilla attend the National Service of Thanksgiving and Dedication for King Charles III and Queen Camilla, and the presentation of the Honours of Scotland, at St Giles’ Cathedral on July 5, 2023 in Edinburgh, Scotland. During the service of thanksgiving and dedication for the Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla, the Honours of Scotland (the Scottish crown jewels) are presented to the new King. The service is based on a similar service held at St Giles’ 70 years ago to mark the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II but unlike the 1953 service, the Stone of Destiny, on which ancient Scottish kings were crowned, will be present in the cathedral. Anyway, most of the attendees seemed to be wearing robes, but Middleton opted for a Catherine Walker coat and matching accessories, including a very snappy hat. (People explains that she didn’t wear robes because she’s not a member of the Order of the Thistle, though her husband and in-laws are. Don’t feel too bad, Kate; I’m not in the Order of the Thistle either.)

She previously wore this coat on Easter (with a similar but different snappy hat), that scandalous time she painted her nails red, against royal protocol. Given all that Charles, Diana, Fergie, and of course Andrew have put this family through, Kate should be able to do whatever the hell she wants with her manicures! She’s clearly a team player!
