Margot Robbie Wore Schiaparelli Haute Couture To The 'Barbie' LA Premiere

Solo In The Spotlight Barbie

After a mini world tour, Margot Robbie was back stateside for the world premiere of ‘Barbie,’ held at Shrine Auditorium on Sunday (July 9) in Los Angeles, California.

While I never vocalised it, I knew as soon as Margot returned to the US that we would see our first black dress of this promo tour, and I’m not mad about it.

This was the world premiere after all, and Andrew Mukamal made the decision to make this event standout from all the others.

Inspired by the 1960s ‘Solo In The Spotlight’ Barbie, Daniel Roseberry crafted this Schiaparelli Haute Couture embellished bustier dress.

From its form-fitting gown to the sassy flounce and single red rose, the designer created the perfect replica of the original dress, with the styling – opera gloves, pink scarf, Manolo Blahnik mules and Lorraine Schwartz necklace – capturing the drama and style of the early 1960’s.

Almost all of Barbie’s early ensembles were given whimsical appellations, and so selecting ‘Solo In The Spotlight’ was the perfect choice for Margot’s big night where the spotlight was on her.

Bryce Scarlett once again nailed the hair styling, giving Margot a retro inspired ponytail which was an important factor in nailing the theme as the dress itself.
